FEBRUARY 5TH, 2014 COLONIA BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS REGULAR MEETING

February 5th, 2014 Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners Regular Meeting 

The regular meeting of the Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners took place at the Colonia Firehouse On February 5, 2014 at 7:45 pm. The meeting was called to order by Board President Ra Hughes followed by a moment of silence for departed members.


Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Home News Tribune and the Asbury Park Press and at Town Hall.


Commissioners present; Jim Souza, Ed Sheehan, bill Higgins, Sr., Bill Higgins, Jr. and Ray Hughes

Down one vehicle which is out for repair. Electrical problem on FA-11. Commissioner Sheehan will call to see how long parts will take to come in.


Commissioners want a copy of the Squads budget.


Chiefs Report, B. Stellmach
You have the percentages in front of you. Chief Stellmach read off who was less than 25 percent.
The officers are going through all the gear to see what firefighters need what.


Chief Stellmach would like to see if the radios could be reprogrammed now instead of waiting the six weeks for the new radios to come in. It is becoming a safety issue. Commissioner Higgins will call and set up an appointment


Chief requested 15 new pass devices.


The firefighters who wear glasses need glasses for the gas masks. There is an insert that fits in the mask and the lens pop out.


The leather boots that the guys received are not the ones they wanted. They will give the commissioners the right information on the boots they want and the guys who are active will get the boots first.


The training budget for the year is $20,000.00.


Commissioner Higgins would like the Chief to talk with the officers at their next meeting about the trailer. They need to take some of the stuff off and clean it out.

The fire elections are February 15. Everyone should come out and vote.
Floor Firefighter Giardina gave an update on grants.


Motion to adjourn meeting was made by Commissioner Souza and seconded by Commissioner Sheehan Motion passed by a unanimous vote.
