January 2, 2013 Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners Regular Meeting

The regular meeting of the Colonia Board of Fire Commissioners took place at the Colonia Firehouse on January 2, 2012 at 7:42 pm. The meeting was called to order by Board President Ray Hughes followed by a moment of silence for departed members.

Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Home News Tribune and the Asbury Park Press and at Town Hall.

Commissioners present: Ray Hughes, Ed Sheehan, Bill Higgins, Sr., and Bill Higgins

Commissioner not present: Jim Souza

Also Present: Chief Mackey, Firefighter Caposiena, Firefighter Fugaro, Firefighter Lorenzen, G. Reilly (First Aid),

EMS, Laura Higgins

Laura left her report for the commissioners.

Commissioner Hughes

For those first aiders who have left we can use their pagers.

Front finger reader was not working the breaker was tripped.

First aid building had no heat. They had a problem with the furnace. The guy was up there on New Years Eve to try and fix it. They are still having a problem with it and will try and get Wunder up there fix the furnace and the lights.

Chief’s Report, M. Mackey

Has not had his meeting with his officers yet for the year.

Still waiting to hear about the tool from district 9.

Buildings and Grounds, Commissioner Higgins, Sr.

Fence on corner was hit during Christmas tree season. The fence has since been replaced.

We need some siding work done on the firehouse.

Meeting room about 85% done. Billy Jr. stopped in and office furniture store in Plainfield to look at and get prices on 12 foot tables.

There was a smell with one of the rigs at first aid. Checked it out and everything is ok.

Purchasing, Commissioner Hughes, Jr.

Only one person contacted me about getting fitted for turnout gear. Going to pick a date on monthly drill and if they don’t come on that date then they can forget it.

District 9 came up with a number for the tool of $5,400. We will go back and counter with $3,000.00.

Commissioner Sheehan

First aid kits that we ordered are in and in the cars.

Talked about replacing Chief’s car. We are going to look at Woodbridge Chief’s truck. Eddie is taking care of it.

Also will start looking into purchasing a new engine.

New Business

Little Fellows is looking to use the hall. The date of April 20 that they requested is open and we will give it to them.

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Commissioner Sheehan and seconded by Commissioner Higgins, Jr. at 8:02 pm. Motion passed by a unanimous vote.
